Leading Lights Project

The LEADING LIGHTS project is a small pilot intended to result in increased participant awareness of and accurate knowledge about energy efficiency issues for today and tomorrow for residents of Humboldt County as well as actions residents can take to conserve energy at home, at work, and in their communities.  The results of the first year's work are available under past projects.  We are exploring new directions for the coming year.

High School Culinary Arts Program, Honolulu, Hawaii

The Krause Family Foundation (KFF) partners with Aloun Farms to support high school culinary arts programs in Honolulu to educate the community about sustainable agriculture.  Each year, Aloun Farms and KFF host The Annual Sweet Onion Culinary Competition and gala at which teams of culinary arts high school students compete to demonstrate their skills utilizing local produce.  The event is judged by local chefs who also mentor the students.  Each year, a total of $41,000 is distributed among eight high schools.
